Bar Ferdinando to revive historic Carroll Gardens address as Italian cafe and bar
Bar Ferdinando is poised to reopen the longtime beloved Carroll Gardens address at 151 Union Street come March 2026. The space was formerly home to Ferdinando’s Focacceria, a neighborhood staple known for its Sicilian specialties.
Restaurateur Sal Lamboglia, recognized for his work with Cafe Spaghetti, Swoony’s, and Sal Tang’s, has been selected by the property’s owner, Francesco Buffa, to steer the next chapter for this historic location. Lamboglia’s new concept will emphasize a daytime Italian cafe and bar atmosphere.
The menu at Bar Ferdinando is expected to feature cocktails alongside traditional offerings such as rice balls, pane e panelle, and focaccia sandwiches. Pastry chef Jackie de la Barrera has been tapped to develop the sweets program, adding a curated pastry selection to the mix.
Details remain limited as the opening is still some time away, but the neighborhood can anticipate another thoughtfully crafted Italian addition. This news was recently reported by Eater NY, highlighting it as a notable anticipated opening in 2026.
