Indienne, the only Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Chicago, has opened a New York location this month. The new restaurant is situated in Hudson Yards at 515 West 38th Street, near 10th Avenue. It officially opened on Thursday, May 28. Indienne is the first of three planned restaurants by chef Sujan Sarkar that will operate within Henry Hall, a luxury residential building in the area.
Chef Sarkar is known for his approach to Indian cuisine that combines traditional flavors with contemporary techniques. The New York outpost follows the Chicago original’s focus on refined, modern Indian dishes. Indienne aims to bring a fine dining experience to a city where Indian restaurants have rarely achieved Michelin recognition.
The forthcoming additions include a British Indian chophouse called Elder and another yet-to-be-announced concept. These venues are all part of Sarkar’s effort to diversify the Indian dining scene in New York with upscale offerings. Reservations for Indienne opened earlier this month, reflecting early interest from diners.
Located in one of Manhattan’s rapidly developing neighborhoods, Indienne’s arrival adds to the growing number of high-profile restaurants moving into Hudson Yards. The area continues to expand as a dining destination beyond its commercial and residential developments. Indienne’s presence may signal increasing demand for elevated Indian cuisine in the city’s fine dining sector.
