Downtown Chinese Spot ‘Red Lantern’ Closes After Five Years
Red Lantern, a Chinese restaurant located on Hudson Street in the West Village, closed its doors last weekend. The restaurant, known for its Szechuan cuisine and spicy dishes, had been operating for five years. According to the owner, rising rents and increased operational costs made continuing untenable. Red Lantern had been a neighborhood staple for late-night dining. The space is expected to be taken over by a new tenant, though no official announcements have been made.
