Gruppo to Close East Village Location, Consolidate with Spunto in Nolita

Source: Eater NY

Gruppo, a staple pizzeria on Avenue B in the East Village since 1999, will close its doors on March 21, 2026. The closure comes as part of a consolidation with its sister restaurant, Spunto.

The combined restaurant will reopen on April 1, 2026, at 261 Bowery in Nolita. The operation will retain the Spunto name and aims to maintain continuity by featuring familiar menu favorites, a full bar, and serving the same delivery area that Gruppo previously covered.

This move represents a neighborhood shift rather than a disappearance, as the brand refocuses its presence in Nolita while preserving elements valued by patrons of both establishments.

Details of the consolidation and relocation have been reported by Eater NY and EV Grieve, sources that continue to monitor developments in the city’s restaurant landscape.
