Krispy Kreme Settles Data Breach Lawsuit, New Yorkers Eligible for Up to $3,500

Krispy Kreme has agreed to pay $1.6 million to settle claims stemming from a data breach. The settlement covers customers in the United States whose information was compromised. Eligible customers can apply for payments of up to $3,500.

The breach involved customer data collected through the company’s website and app. According to court documents, names, contact information, and possibly payment details were accessed without authorization. The incident was first disclosed to affected customers by Krispy Kreme last year.

The deadline to submit a claim is approaching. Documents filed in federal court specify that claims must be filed by mid-June. Customers can submit claims online through a dedicated settlement website, which is linked from the company’s main page.

New York City residents who purchased doughnuts online or through Krispy Kreme’s app between July 2023 and February 2024 may be eligible. Proof of purchase or notification from Krispy Kreme may be required. Settlement funds will be distributed after the court gives final approval.

Questions about the process can be directed to the settlement administrator. In the meantime, Krispy Kreme locations across the city continue to operate on their regular schedules.
