Each participating restaurant picks one tier. Menus are 2-3 courses. Tax, tip, and drinks are extra. Tiers introduced in 2024 to reflect rising costs — gone are the days of a flat $30 dinner.
When Is It?
- Winter Restaurant Week: mid-January to early February (~3 weeks)
- Summer Restaurant Week: late July to mid-August (~3 weeks)
- Run by NYC Tourism + Conventions. ~600 restaurants across all five boroughs participate.
- Reservations usually open ~2 weeks before, via the official site, Resy, or OpenTable.
How to Book the Best Tables
- Book the moment reservations open — prime dinner slots at top spots vanish in hours.
- Target lunch — easier to get, often the same kitchen, cheaper tier.
- Go Monday–Wednesday — weekends book solid; midweek has openings even at hot restaurants.
- Check the menu first — some restaurants offer a limited RW menu; confirm it's worth it vs à la carte.
- Verify the DOH grade — use our DOH Score Lookup before you commit.
