Overstory’s Harrison Ginsberg to Head New Cocktail Bar at Chelsea’s Crane Club

Crane Club, the Chelsea restaurant from chef Melissa Rodriguez and Jeff Katz, is preparing to add a cocktail bar. Harrison Ginsberg, formerly of Overstory in the Financial District, is set to lead the program. Overstory was named to the World’s 50 Best Bars list, and Ginsberg’s move adds attention to the project.

The new bar will open inside Crane Club later this summer. No specific date has been announced. The restaurant, which operates in partnership with Tao Group Hospitality, has drawn a steady crowd since opening earlier this year.

On recent weeknights, dinner service at Crane Club has seen a mix of regulars and out-of-towners. Staff said that the bar space, still under construction, is expected to be ready by late August. Ginsberg has been seen meeting with the beverage team and reviewing glassware orders.

Rodriguez and Katz are known for their work at Mel’s and Al Coro. The cocktail bar is Crane Club’s first major addition since its launch. Drink prices have not been released, but staff expect them to be in line with other high-end bars in the area.

The bar joins a busy summer for new nightlife openings in Chelsea. Nearby, several rooftop and lounge spaces have extended hours this month as late-night traffic increases with the warm weather.
