Type a restaurant name or street to search…
What do the A/B/C grades mean?
A = 0-13 violation points (clean). B = 14-27 (problems). C = 28+ (serious). Z = grading suspended pending re-inspection. Restaurants must post the latest letter publicly.
What's a "critical" violation?
Critical violations are those most likely to cause foodborne illness — e.g., improper food temperatures, contamination by raw food or unclean equipment, pest activity, or workers not washing hands.
How fresh is this data?
We pull last 90 days of inspections from NYC Open Data (DOH CAMIS) — updated daily. Older inspections aren't shown; recent grades are what's relevant.
Why does my favorite restaurant not show up?
Either: (1) it hasn't been inspected in the last 90 days, (2) it's listed under a different legal name on DOH records (try a partial street match), or (3) it's a non-restaurant food service exempt from CAMIS.
Can I rely on this for legal/business decisions?
For official records: NYC DOH's ABCEats site. Our tool wraps the same underlying data with a nicer UI.
